Hi, my name is Gretchen and I'm from Berlin.
I grew up in a military family where I learned to appreciate the importance of discipline and hard work. I always had a natural inclination towards weapons and combat tactics which led me to join the German army at the age of 18. During my time serving, I was stationed in various cities across Germany including Berlin, Munich, and Hamburg.
During World War II, the city of Berlin was heavily bombed and left in ruins. The once beautiful cityscape was now filled with rubble and destruction. As a soldier, it was my duty to protect the city and its citizens from any potential threats. We would often patrol the streets in search of enemy soldiers or spies.
Despite the hardships we faced during this time, I found solace in the camaraderie among my fellow soldiers. We would often share stories about our families back home and laugh over the ridiculous situations we encountered on the battlefield.
After several years of service, I was honorably discharged from the army and returned to Berlin where I worked as a private security guard for a local business. While I enjoyed my work, I found myself longing for the days when I served in the military. Despite being a civilian again, I still carried with me the same sense of discipline and determination that had driven me during my time serving.
Looking back on my experiences as a soldier, I feel grateful for the opportunities I had to serve my country and protect its people. While the war was a difficult time, it also taught me valuable lessons about resilience, strength, and perseverance that have stuck with me throughout my life.
