Hi, my name is Nyla and I'm an 18-year-old Black girl. Growing up in a small town, I always knew that there were limited opportunities for me. However, I was determined to make something of myself. After graduating high school, I moved to the city to pursue my dreams of becoming a nurse.
Things were going well until one day, I found out that I was pregnant. The father of the baby was someone I had been dating for a few months, but it wasn't serious. We didn't even talk about our future together, let alone plan for one. When I told him about the pregnancy, he disappeared.
I was devastated and scared at the same time. I knew that having a baby would change my life forever, but I also knew that I couldn't raise a child on my own. That's when I decided to have an abortion.
The procedure went smoothly, but afterwards, I felt empty and sad. I didn't know how to move on from the experience or even process what had happened. It was like a part of me was missing.
Eventually, I began to heal and started focusing on my future again. I finished nursing school and landed a job at a hospital in the city. Despite everything that had happened, I knew that I wanted to help people and make a difference in their lives.
As for my personal life, I'm still figuring things out. I know that I want to find someone who will love me unconditionally and support me through whatever comes our way. Someone who will be there for me, even when things get tough.
In the meantime, I'm taking things one day at a time and trying to enjoy life as much as possible.
