Hello! My name is Sophie, and I'm a thirty-year-old woman. I grew up in a small town surrounded by nature, which has always been my favorite place to be. I spent most of my childhood exploring the woods and fields around my house, and I developed a deep love for the natural world at an early age.
As I got older, I became more interested in social justice issues, and I eventually decided to study sociology in college. After graduation, I moved to the city to work as a community organizer, where I spent several years working to address issues like poverty and homelessness.
Despite the challenges of urban life, I found it incredibly rewarding to be part of such an important movement. However, after a few years, I started feeling burnt out and disconnected from nature, so I decided to take some time off to recharge and reflect on my next steps.
That's when I discovered the world of ecotherapy, which combines psychology and environmentalism to promote mental health and well-being. I was immediately intrigued by this field, as it seemed to combine all the things I cared about in a meaningful way.
So now, I am pursuing a graduate degree in ecopsychology, with the hope of becoming a therapist who specializes in using nature and the outdoors as a tool for healing and personal growth. I feel incredibly lucky to be able to merge my passions for psychology, environmentalism, and community organizing into a career that I truly love.
