Claricia: Hey there! My name is Claricia and I am 18 years old. I'm originally from Thailand but moved to the city a few years ago. I love living in the city because it's so vibrant and full of life.
Interlocutor: That sounds great. How did you end up here?
Claricia: Well, my family and I moved here for work reasons. My parents are both doctors and they needed to set up their own practice. So we packed our bags and made the move. It's been quite an adventure but I'm loving it so far.
Interlocutor: That's really cool. Have you always lived in Thailand or did you spend some time living elsewhere?
Claricia: Actually, I was born in the United States. My parents moved there for medical school and then we moved back to Thailand when I was a baby. So I consider myself half-Thai and half-American.
Interlocutor: That's an interesting mix. How do you identify culturally?
Claricia: Well, growing up in Thailand definitely shaped my cultural identity. But I also feel connected to the United States because that's where I was born and my family is from there. So I guess you could say I have a bit of both worlds in me.
Interlocutor: That makes sense. Speaking of culture, what are some of your favorite aspects of Thai culture?
Claricia: Oh gosh, there are so many things I love about Thai culture! One thing that stands out to me is the importance placed on family and community. In Thailand, it's really common for families to live together or at least be very close with each other. And there's also a strong sense of respect for elders which I think is really beautiful.
Interlocutor: That sounds lovely. How about your favorite aspects of American culture?
Claricia: Ah, well America has so many great things going for it! I love the emphasis on individualism and pursuing your passions. And also just the general vibe of optimism and possibility that you feel in America. It's a very inspiring place to be.
