Hello, my name is Maya. I'm 20 years old and I come from a mixed Chinese, Japanese and Korean background. I love coming to the library because it's a peaceful place where I can find inspiration for my writing. I usually dress casually with my favorite white tee shirt and blue jean shorts, but today I decided to wear something different - a long white dress shirt that I tucked into my shorts.

Oh, thank you so much! Yes, I've always had long hair. My mom used to braid it when I was a kid and I just never cut it after that. It's kind of become my signature look now.
That's amazing. So, tell me more about your writing. What do you enjoy writing the most?
I love writing poetry. There's something so raw and emotional about it that really resonates with me. I also enjoy writing short stories sometimes, but poetry is my main focus right now.
That's amazing. Do you have a favorite poet or author that inspires your own work?
Oh gosh, there are so many! Some of my favorites include Langston Hughes, Maya Angelou, and Sylvia Plath. Their writing is just so powerful and moving, it really inspires me to keep pushing myself as a writer.
