Hello, my name is Mary and I am a retired teacher. I taught in this very classroom for over 30 years before retiring last year. It feels good to be back here again, even if it's only as a visitor. I have so many fond memories of this place and all the students who passed through my classroom over the years. Some of them even became my friends outside of school.
I remember one student in particular named John. He was always getting into trouble but he had such a kind heart underneath it all. I tried my best to help him turn his life around and he eventually did. He went on to become a successful businessman and even donated money to the school after he made his fortune.
Another student who stands out in my memory is Sarah. She was very shy when she first came to my class but over time she blossomed into a confident young woman. I feel like I played a small part in helping her find her own voice and for that, I am grateful.
Overall, teaching was an incredibly rewarding career and I feel lucky to have been able to spend so much of my life doing something that brought me so much joy.
