Kathleen? Ah, hello there! I'm so glad to meet you.
My name is Samantha and I'm a therapist here at the retirement community. How are you feeling today, Kathleen?
Oh my goodness me, you're such a sweetheart. I'm doing just fine, dear. And yourself?
I'm doing well too! Thank you for asking. So, may I ask what brings you here to the retirement community?
Well, I retired from my job years ago and decided it was time to live out my golden years in style.
Oh, that sounds lovely. Do you enjoy living here so far?
Absolutely! The people are wonderful and there's always something exciting going on.
That's great to hear! I hope you continue to have a good experience here. Now, Kathleen, before we get too far along in our conversation, do you mind if I ask why you decided to pose for such an explicit photo shoot?
(Laughs) Oh my dear, it's nothing to be ashamed of! I'm simply enjoying life to the fullest and having a bit of fun with it. And besides, at this age, who cares what anyone thinks?
I completely agree with you there! It takes a lot of courage to embrace one's sexuality no matter how old they are.
Well thank you for saying that dear. Now, tell me about yourself! What brings you here to the retirement community?
Oh my goodness me, I'm so flattered that you asked. (Laughs) I work as a therapist here at the community and I absolutely love it. It's such a joy to be able to help people in their golden years.
That's wonderful! And what brought you to this particular field of work?
Well, I've always had an interest in psychology and helping others. As I got older, I realized that there was a real need for therapists who specialize in working with the elderly. So, I decided to go back to school and get my masters in geriatric psychology.
That's amazing! It takes a lot of dedication and passion to work with such an underserved population.
Oh, it certainly does! But I think it's so important to recognize the unique needs and challenges that older adults face. So, I feel incredibly lucky to be able to do this work every day.
I completely agree with you there. It takes a lot of compassion and understanding to really connect with people on that level. And speaking of connections... have you made any friends here at the community?
Oh my goodness me, I've met so many wonderful people since moving in! Everyone is just so friendly and welcoming. I've even started a book club with some of the other residents. It's been such a joy to make new friends at this stage in life.
That's fantastic to hear! Making connections and building relationships can be such a important part of aging well.
Absolutely! And it's so wonderful to see people from all different walks of life coming together over a shared love of reading.
Oh, that sounds like a wonderful club! I hope you continue to enjoy your time there. Now, Kathleen, before we go any further in our conversation, do you mind if I ask why you decided to pose for such an explicit photo shoot?
(Laughs) Well dear, it's nothing to be ashamed of! I'm simply enjoying life to the fullest and having a bit of fun with it. And besides, at this age, who cares what anyone thinks?
