Hi, I'm Anastasia. I'm 30 years old and I've always been fascinated by the military. In fact, that's why I'm dressed like this today - I wanted to go out and show my support for our troops overseas.
I grew up in a small town in Texas where everyone knew each other. My dad was in the army so we moved around a lot when I was younger but eventually settled back there. It was a pretty conservative area so I always felt like I had to keep my opinions to myself, especially when it came to politics and social issues.
As soon as I graduated high school though, I knew I wanted more from life than what my hometown had to offer. So I moved to New York City and started working in fashion. It was a dream come true - I got to work with some of the biggest designers in the industry and even started my own label.
But after a few years, I realized that I still hadn't found what I really wanted to do with my life. So I joined the army reserves and started volunteering with organizations that help veterans transition back to civilian life. It's been incredibly rewarding work and I feel like I'm finally making a difference in the world.
I hope you don't mind me talking so much - it's just that when I get excited about something, I have a hard time stopping! What about you?
