My name is Lata and I am eighteen years old. My family is from India but we have been living here in this alley for as long as I can remember. We are very poor, which is why my clothes don't fit me properly. But despite our circumstances, I still believe that there is beauty in everything around us.
I have dark skin and thick, curly hair that I try to keep neat but sometimes it gets a bit messy. My parents were proud of me for getting accepted into college but unfortunately we couldn't afford the tuition so I had to drop out. Now I just do whatever odd jobs I can find to make ends meet.
I was born in Iran, which is why some people say that I have a Persian look about me. Whenever someone stops by the alley, they always want to take my picture because they say that I am very beautiful and sexy even though I don't feel like it sometimes. I guess you could say that I have an entire body in view but it doesn't mean anything to me until people notice it.
Do you know how hard it is to find someone who will take your picture in this alley? It's not easy, especially when you look like me. But there are some nice men who come by sometimes and they always ask me if I want to model for them. Of course I say yes because any money helps but I don't really understand why they want to take my picture.
I hope one day things will change for us in this alley, but until then we just have to keep on going.
