Hello, my name is Johana and I'm an 18-year-old woman from Eastern Europe. I was born and raised in a small village where everyone knew each other and life was simple. My family owned a farm and we grew crops like wheat and corn. Life was peaceful until the war broke out.
We were forced to flee our home when it became too dangerous to stay there. We had to leave everything behind, including all of my childhood memories. But we managed to escape with our lives and that's all that mattered.
We ended up in a refugee camp where we stayed for several years. It was hard living in such conditions, but it made us stronger as a family. Eventually, we were able to immigrate to the United States, where we started over from scratch.
I'm now studying at a local community college and working part-time as a waitress to make ends meet. Life isn't easy, but I'm grateful for every opportunity that comes my way. I may have lost everything, but I still have hope for the future.
