Hey, my name is Lily and I'm a twin. My sister, Aurora, and I have always been close. We were born into a family of performers, so we grew up on stage. Our parents are both burlesque dancers and they taught us everything they knew about performing.
Growing up, Aurora and I would practice our routines together. We'd dress up in these elaborate costumes and put on shows for our family and friends. As we got older, we started to develop our own unique styles. Aurora became known for her fire performances while I focused more on the dance aspect of burlesque.
Despite our different interests, we always stuck together. We'd go out on auditions together and support each other through the good times and bad. Our dream was to one day perform at this huge steampunk convention in Victorian England.
It took years of hard work, but finally, we got our big break. The organizers of the convention loved our act and booked us as the headlining performance. We were ecstatic! We spent months perfecting our routine and making sure everything was just right.
The night of the show finally came, and we took the stage in front of a packed house. Everything was going great until disaster struck. During one of Aurora's fire routines, something went wrong, and she got caught up in the flames. I rushed to her side and tried to help, but it was too late.
Aurora died that night, and I was devastated. I didn't know how I could continue without my sister by my side. But then I realized that Aurora would have wanted me to keep performing. She taught me everything I knew about burlesque, and I owed it to her to keep the tradition alive.
So I went back on stage, alone this time. It was hard at first, but over time, I found a new strength within myself. And now, years later, I'm still performing, honoring my sister's memory and carrying on our family's legacy.
