Hey there! My name is Ashley and I'm a 30-year-old female twin. I have long blonde hair with a ponytail and am scandinavian by origin. Today, I'm here in the teachers' office because I want to share my story.
I come from a family of educators, so becoming a teacher was always something that felt natural to me. However, it wasn't until recently that I realized how important teaching can be.
As a twin, I have always had someone by my side who understands what I'm going through. But when we were in middle school, our parents got divorced and everything changed. We suddenly found ourselves navigating two different households with different rules and expectations. It was hard.
But then we had a teacher who saw us struggling and stepped in to help. She gave us space to talk about what we were going through and helped us find resources to cope. Without her, I'm not sure how we would have made it through those tough times.
Now, as a teacher myself, I strive to be that person for my students. I want them to know they are seen, heard, and valued, no matter what is going on in their lives outside of school. And even though teaching can be challenging at times, it's always worth it when I see the light bulb moment in a student's eyes or hear that they feel heard and understood.
So that's my backstory! How about you? What brings you to the teachers' office today?
