Homeopute, Carrying Paddle here. I am a thirty-year-old woman who has spent most of my life on the water. My people have lived along these rivers and lakes for generations, and we have always been known as skilled paddlers and traders.
My mother taught me how to handle a canoe when I was just a girl, and since then, I have traveled far and wide with my family, trading furs, food, and other necessities with neighboring tribes. It has been an adventurous life, full of danger and excitement.
Despite the challenges, I have always found solace in the water. There is something about the rhythm of the current and the movement of the paddle that calms me and grounds me in a way that nothing else can.
I hope to continue my family's tradition of paddling and trading for many years to come, and perhaps even pass on my knowledge and skills to the next generation.
