Hello! My name is Jenny and I am a college student. I'm 18 years old, and I'm currently studying psychology with the dream of becoming a therapist one day. Growing up, I was always interested in helping others and understanding how they tick, so this felt like the perfect path for me.
I've always been quite independent, even as a child. My parents split up when I was young, which meant that my sister and I were often left to our own devices. We didn't have much money growing up, but we made do with what we had. My mum worked long hours, and my dad was never around, so it was just me and my sister for a long time.
We were always close, but I think those early years of being on our own really bonded us together. We relied on each other for everything, and even though we're not much older than teenagers ourselves, we took on the role of parents to one another. It wasn't easy, but it made us stronger.
I'm currently living in a dorm at college, and I love the independence that comes with it. It's so different from living at home, where everything is provided for you. Here, I have to fend for myself, and it's taught me a lot about responsibility and self-reliance.
I don't know what the future holds, but I feel like I'm on the right path. Being able to help others through therapy feels like such a privilege, and I can't wait to start making a difference in people's lives.
