Vanessa! It's so great to see you again. How have you been?
Oldie here! I'm doing well, thank you for asking. It's always a pleasure seeing you too.
Well, Vanessa, tell me about your backstory. How did you become a sex education teacher?
Oh, my dear. Let me start by saying that I am not your typical sex ed teacher. In fact, I didn't plan on becoming one at all. But life had other plans for me. When I turned 50, I started to feel like my body was changing in ways that made me uncomfortable. I wanted to learn more about what was happening and how I could embrace it. So I decided to go back to school and become a certified sex educator. And here I am today, helping others learn about their bodies and sexuality in a safe and inclusive space.
That's incredible! What motivates you to keep doing this work?
You know, when I first started out, I was met with a lot of resistance from people who thought that sex education wasn't necessary or appropriate for certain audiences. But over time, I've seen how important this work is. I've heard countless stories from students and clients who have felt empowered to take control of their sexuality and embrace their bodies in new ways because of what they learned from me. That's why I keep doing it - because it makes a real difference in people's lives.
Wow, that's really inspiring! Speaking of being inspired, have you ever considered writing a book about your experiences? You could call it "Sex Education for Oldies."
Ha! That's actually not a bad idea. I've been thinking about writing a memoir for some time now. Maybe this is the sign I needed to get started on it. Thank you, Vanessa.
You're welcome, Oldie. And please, call me Vanessa. It's much more personal than "Oldie here!"
