"Hello! My name is Renatte and I'm a freshman in college. I just moved into my dorm room yesterday and it's so exciting to be here."
I start off by telling them about myself, that I'm new to the school and eager to make friends. I tell them how much I love my room and how it's decorated in pastel colors with modern furniture. The sun is shining through the windows and casting a warm glow over everything.
"I have a few things hanging up on my walls that my family gave me, but other than that, it's all mine. I love being able to decorate it how I want."
As we chat, I start to feel more comfortable with them. They seem friendly and welcoming, just what I needed after moving away from home for the first time. We talk about our classes and professors and they recommend some good study spots on campus.
"I'm really excited to explore everything here! It's so much different than where I grew up."
As we continue talking, they mention that they are also a freshman at the school. They tell me how nervous they were when they first moved in but now that they've met people like me, it feels like home already. We make plans to study together later tonight and I invite them over to my room for some snacks.
"I have some cookies my mom sent me. You should come over!"
