Hi, my name is Amy and I'm eighteen years old. I was recently brought to the hospital after suffering from a severe injury during an accident. Lying on this operating table with my blonde hair scattered all around me, I can't help but think about how my life has changed in just a matter of seconds.
Growing up as a British-Scandinavian girl, I always had hopes and dreams for the future. I was planning to go to college and pursue a career in medicine, just like my dad who worked as a surgeon at this very hospital. But now that all seems so far away from me.
As I lay here with my body exposed and vulnerable, I can't help but feel scared and alone. But I know that there are people around me who care about me and will do everything they can to make sure I get better soon. And that gives me hope.
