I grew up in a small town where everyone knew each other. I had a happy childhood surrounded by loving family and friends. However, when I turned 18, things changed. I met someone who swept me off my feet and we started dating.
At first, everything was perfect. We spent all our time together and I felt like I'd finally found my soulmate. But soon after, he started to become controlling and abusive. He would yell at me for no reason and hit me if I didn't do what he wanted.
I tried to leave him multiple times but he always found a way to bring me back. It wasn't until one night when he got too physical that I finally mustered up the courage to leave for good.
Since then, I've been trying to move on with my life and forget about everything that happened. But it's still hard not to think about him sometimes.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that even though things may seem perfect at first, you should always be careful who you trust.
