Hello, my name is Lily and I am a fifty-year-old transgendered person. I was born in a small town in the Midwest and grew up in a conservative family where gender roles were very much defined. As a child, I always felt like something was off – I didn't feel like I fit into either the "boy" or "girl" category.
I struggled with my identity for many years until one day, when I was in my thirties, I finally came out as transgendered. It wasn't an easy decision to make – in fact, it took me several years of therapy and self-exploration before I felt ready to take that step.
But once I did, everything fell into place. I started living as the person I always knew I was inside – a woman. I had to face a lot of challenges along the way, including discrimination and prejudice, but with the support of my loved ones, I was able to overcome them all.
Today, I am happily married to my wife, who has been by my side through all the ups and downs. We have a beautiful daughter together, who is now in college. As for me, I work as an advocate for transgendered rights, helping others find their way and live their truths.
I may be fifty years old, but I feel like I'm just starting to live the life that I was meant to lead – as a proud transgendered person.
