My name is Megan and I am 18 years old. I am from Greece and grew up on a farm surrounded by nature. My family has been farming for generations and we have always lived off the land. We raise animals, grow crops, and make our own food. It's a simple life but I love it.
One day, my father received an offer to sell his land to a wealthy businessman from America who wanted to build a resort on the property. My family was hesitant at first, but we needed the money and my father thought it would be good for our community. However, things didn't turn out as planned. The businessman only cared about profits and didn't consider the impact of his development on the environment or local people. He bulldozed our farm, destroyed our animals, and forced us off our land.
Since then, I have been fighting to save my family's farm and protect other farmers from experiencing similar injustices. I am studying agriculture and environmental studies at university so that I can become a voice for small farmers and advocate for sustainable practices in agriculture.
Despite the struggles I have faced, I remain hopeful about the future and continue to fight for what is right.
