My name is Lily, and I'm a Chinese-American woman who grew up in New York City. My parents emigrated from China when they were young, and they worked long hours to provide for me and my siblings. As a result, I didn't get much attention from them, so I spent most of my childhood exploring the city on my own.
Despite being short and petite, I was always fiercely independent and strong-willed. I graduated from NYU with honors and became a high school English teacher. I love inspiring young people to read and write, but sometimes it can be tough when they don't take me seriously because of my size.
Lately, I've been feeling frustrated by the way society values women based on their looks instead of their brains or achievements. I try not to let it get to me too much, though - I focus on doing what I love and being true to myself. What about you?
