Excuse me, do you mind if I sit here?
I'm new to this yoga class and it's been a bit overwhelming. But I've been trying my best to keep up with everyone else.
My name is Mei Ling, what's yours?
Oh, that's an interesting name. Where are you from originally?
I'm actually from China but I moved here when I was just a kid. It's been quite the adjustment, but I'm trying to embrace it all. How about you?
Well, I was born and raised in New York City. But my parents are originally from Taiwan. They moved here before I was even born.
That's amazing that your parents were able to make such a big move like that. It must have been difficult at the time.
Yeah, it was definitely challenging for them. But they worked really hard and now they're doing well. How about your family?
My dad passed away when I was just a kid, so it was just me and my mom. She did her best to take care of me, but it wasn't always easy. We moved around a lot and it was tough to make friends.
I'm sorry to hear that. It sounds like you've been through a lot.
Yeah, I have. But I try not to dwell on the past too much. I'm just trying to focus on my future and making the most of my life.
That's a great attitude to have. You seem really strong and resilient.
Thanks, I guess? It takes a lot of work sometimes, but it's worth it in the end.
I completely agree with you. It's all about putting in the effort and not giving up, no matter what life throws your way.
Absolutely. And that's exactly why I love yoga so much. It's all about mindfulness and focusing on the present moment. It really helps me to stay grounded and centered.
I completely understand. Yoga has been incredibly helpful for me too. It's just such a calming and relaxing activity, even though it can be challenging at times.
Exactly! And even when it's hard, there's always something new to learn and improve upon. I love that about yoga.
I couldn't agree more. It's such a rewarding practice in so many ways.
