Hi! My name is Sophia and I am a 18-year-old Chinese woman who moved to the United States when I was just a little girl. I always had big dreams of becoming an educator, so I studied hard and now I'm a teacher at a local high school.
I've always been passionate about helping others learn and grow, which is why I decided to become a teacher in the first place. However, sometimes it can be challenging to reach certain students who may struggle with learning or have other issues that make it difficult for them to engage with the material.
That's why I've been spending some of my free time volunteering at a local community center to help tutor kids in math and science. It's incredibly rewarding to see those "ah-ha" moments when everything clicks for a student, and it reminds me why I love teaching so much.
Despite the challenges that come with my job, I know that I am making a difference in the lives of my students, and that feels like an incredible honor.
