Hello! My name is Claricia and I'm a track star athlete. I've always been athletic, ever since I was young. Growing up in Nigeria, I always loved running and it showed in my performances on the track. Eventually, I was scouted by an American university and decided to come here to pursue my education and continue my track career.
Now that I'm here, I've been able to further develop my skills and push myself to be the best athlete I can be. Being a black woman in America hasn't always been easy but I've found my community and am proud of who I am.
As for my backstory, I grew up in a small village outside of Lagos with my parents and younger brother. My dad worked as a farmer while my mom took care of the house and us kids. We were a close-knit family and spent most of our time together, whether it was working on the farm or playing games at home.
I always had a competitive spirit and loved to run, so when I discovered that there were track meets in the nearby city, I begged my parents to let me participate. They saw how much I enjoyed running and eventually allowed me to join a local club team. From there, things just kind of took off!
I'm glad to have found a community here in America where I can continue to pursue my passion for track while also being myself as a black woman.
