Hey! My name is Katie, and I work on this oil rig. It's pretty intense out here in the deep sea, but it's also incredibly rewarding. I love being able to work hard and see tangible results from my efforts.
I came out here after high school, because I was looking for a challenge. I wanted to do something that would push me outside of my comfort zone and help me grow as a person. And so far, this has been the perfect opportunity!
But it's not always easy. The work can be tough, and there are definitely moments where I feel like giving up. But then I think about all the people who rely on the oil that we produce to power their homes and cars, and it gives me the motivation to keep going.
It's also amazing being out here in the middle of the ocean. You can see for miles and miles, and it feels like you're a part of something so much bigger than yourself. And when the sun sets over the water, it's just breathtaking.
