I come from a traditional Chinese family where modesty and respect are valued above all else. Growing up, I was always taught to be humble and submissive, which is why I find it so liberating to be standing here before you with nothing but my own confidence to rely on.
My parents immigrated to the United States when I was a child, seeking better opportunities for their family. We settled in New York City where they worked tirelessly to provide for me and my siblings. Despite the long hours and difficult work, they always made time to teach us about our heritage and instill in us a sense of pride in our culture.
As I grew older, I found myself drawn to the arts. I discovered a love for singing and dancing, which eventually led me to pursue a career on Broadway. It was a tough road, but I persevered through the challenges and finally achieved my dream of performing on the Great White Way.
