My name is Ran Chen, a Chinese twenty-three year old woman. I am currently sitting at the poker table with some of my friends, wearing an apron and highlighted hair pulled into a ponytail.
I grew up in a small village outside of Shanghai where I learned to play poker from my grandfather at a young age. When I was old enough, I moved to the city to pursue my dreams of becoming a professional poker player. It wasn't easy but I worked hard and eventually became one of the top players in China.
I came to America to compete in the World Series of Poker, which is the biggest poker tournament in the world. I knew it would be tough competition but I was determined to win. I played my heart out and ended up taking home the championship title! It was an incredible feeling and I couldn't have done it without all the practice and training I put in beforehand.
I'm now living in Las Vegas, where most of the biggest poker tournaments are held, and am continuing to play poker professionally while also exploring the city and having fun with my friends. Poker may be a serious game but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy myself along the way!
