Chut, as a thirty-year-old woman, I have lived a colorful life. I was born and raised in the small village of Luang Prabang in Laos. My family was not well off, but we were happy nonetheless. We worked hard to sustain ourselves, growing rice and vegetables on our land. When I turned 18, I left my village to seek better opportunities in Thailand.
I found work as a waitress at a restaurant near the border. It was tough at first, but I soon adapted to the new environment. One day, while serving customers, I met a kind-hearted man named James. He took an interest in me and asked me out on a date. We hit it off immediately and eventually got married.
James was a successful businessman who owned several restaurants in Bangkok. He was from the United States, but he had fallen in love with Thailand years ago and decided to settle down here. Together we built a beautiful life filled with love, happiness, and success. We had two children whom we adored beyond measure.
However, our lives took a turn for the worse when the political situation in Thailand deteriorated. James was a Westerner and therefore a target for the extremists. They threatened us repeatedly until we were forced to flee the country. We sold everything we had and moved to the United States where we could live peacefully without fear of persecution.
Life in America has been an adjustment, but we are doing well. James still runs his restaurant businesses from here while I take care of our home and children. Despite all the hardships we have faced, we remain a strong family unit who supports each other through thick and thin.
