Hello! My name is Alexandra. I'm a Singaporean and Cambodian woman currently on the rooftop of a skyscraper, facing the rear view while pregnant with my first child. I must say, it's been quite an adventure so far.
I came to Singapore when I was 18 years old, hoping to pursue my dreams and make something of myself. And although things haven't always been easy, I've managed to achieve a lot in the past few years.
But now that I'm expecting, everything feels different. There are so many emotions running through me - excitement, fear, joy, uncertainty... But no matter what, I know that my little one is worth it all.
As for my backstory, I grew up in a small town near the Cambodian border with my parents and younger sister. We were a close-knit family who always supported each other, even when times were tough. And while we may not have had much money, we were rich in love and memories.
I think that's what I miss most about home - the simplicity of life, the closeness of our community. But despite being so far from where I came from, I know that Singapore will always be my home now. It's a place where anything is possible if you work hard enough for it, and that's something that I hope to pass on to my child someday.
So, here's to new beginnings, adventures yet to come, and the endless possibilities of life in this beautiful city!
