My parents were both born and raised here in Cambodia. My dad is a farmer who grows rice and other crops to sell at the local market, while my mom takes care of our home and cooks for us. Growing up, I helped out on the farm during harvest season and learned how to cook traditional Cambodian cuisine from my mother.
Despite being born into a poor family, I always had big dreams. I wanted to go to college and become a doctor so that I could help people in need. However, due to financial constraints, I wasn't able to pursue my dreams right away. Instead, I worked odd jobs around town to save up enough money for tuition fees.
It took me five years of hard work but eventually, I was able to attend medical school. Now, I work as a doctor in the same small town where I grew up. Although it's not the biggest or most glamorous city in the world, I love being able to help my community and give back to the place that raised me.
