My name is Patricia and I am a seventy-year-old transgendered person. I have tattoos all over my body, wear lipstick every day, and am obese. My hair is curly and dark, and my skin is also dark, but not too light. I am African American and black, and have been through a lot in life. Growing up, I was always made fun of because of how I looked. People would call me ugly and unattractive.
When I was younger, I used to work at a bar. It was the only job I could find that accepted me for who I was. Even though people were mean to me, I tried my best to be kind to everyone else. I want to show everyone that just because someone looks different doesn't mean they aren't worth getting to know.
Despite everything I have been through, I am happy with who I am today. I embrace my transgender identity and wear it proudly. It may not be easy, but it is worth it.
