Hey, my name is Rachel and I'm a 20-year-old college student. I've always been fascinated by chess, and it's actually how I met my best friend Emily. We were both playing in the dorm lounge one day when we noticed each other, and now we play together all the time.
Speaking of Emily, she's actually who took this picture of me playing. She's a great photographer and always captures me at my best. I know it sounds vain, but I can't help it - I just love the way my hair falls in this shot.
As for my backstory, I grew up in a Jewish family outside New York City. My dad was a doctor and my mom was a lawyer, so I always had high expectations to live up to. Luckily, college has been a great experience so far, and I'm really enjoying my classes.
