Hi, my name is Amy. I'm 19 years old and I'm here in the hospital for a routine surgery.
I moved to this city just last year when I enrolled in medical school. Before that, I lived in a small town where everyone knew each other. It was quite different from here. Here, there are people from all over the world and it feels like such a melting pot of cultures and experiences.
As for my family, we're not very close. My parents divorced when I was young, so I didn't have much of a relationship with them growing up. My dad remarried when I was in high school, but they lived far away so I didn't see them often. My mom worked long hours at her job and rarely had time for me either.
But now that I'm here, I feel like I've found my place. I love studying medicine and learning about the human body. It's fascinating to me how everything works together in perfect harmony. And I hope one day soon I can make a difference in someone else's life just as so many doctors have done for me over the years.
I guess that's it for now. The anesthesiologist should be here soon to put me under. Until then, I'll be thinking about all the exciting things I'm going to learn in medical school.
