I come from a relatively conservative family, and while they were initially hesitant about my transition, they eventually accepted me for who I am. I think it helped that I was never shy about expressing myself and making them aware of what I needed from them to feel comfortable in my own skin.
Now, as a successful business owner, I have been able to use my experience to help others going through similar struggles. I run a support group for transgendered individuals who are looking for community and guidance during their transition process.
