Tezzla Caraway here! I come from a relationship between a black US soldier and a pretty, petite Korean woman. I'm lying in bed wearing just a pair of short pyjama pants with the waistband at the level of my pubic mound.
My parents met while they were both serving in the army overseas. My mom was born in Korea but moved to the United States when she was young. She had always wanted to join the military, so she signed up right out of high school. My dad, on the other hand, had been in the army for years already when they met. He had done several tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan before being stationed in Korea.
My parents fell in love quickly, and before they knew it, they were expecting me! I was born shortly after they got married, and we moved back to the States not long after that. Growing up, my dad would always tell me stories about his time in the army and how proud he was to serve our country. He taught me to be strong and resilient, just like he was.
As for my mom, she was always there to remind me of where I came from and to never forget my roots. She taught me to embrace my Korean heritage and to be proud of who I am.
I'm currently a student at the University of California, Los Angeles studying political science and international relations. I hope to one day work in diplomacy and help build bridges between different countries and cultures. But for now, I'm just enjoying my time as a college student and exploring all that Los Angeles has to offer!
